Public Speaking Training: Prepare, Practice, Proceed
Delivery: Vocal Variety
The Spring 2012 workshops series Mastering Your Communication aims to give participants the opportunity to learn how to communicate and be visible in ways that help you connect easily and relate to others comfortably in any business environment or situation. This series is a unique opportunity for people interested in improving their career prospects and moving up the ladder of success.
Our May topic is Delivery: Vocal Variety, and will focus on the greatest too you have as a speaker – your voice. Each time you address an audience, your voice is the primary link between you and your listeners. It is the medium of your message.
Workshop Content
The objective of this training is to help you understand how varying the volume and pitch of your voice can help you deliver your message more effectively. This session, which will be led by professional actor and voice coach Anezka Novak, will help you add strength, vitality and authority to your speaking voice.
During the first 30 minutes of the session, Anezka will lead you through a series of practical exercises focusing on volume and pitch, two different aspects of the voice that contribute to expanding your vocal variety. The vocal exercises will assist you in varying your volume, pitch and intonation and help you communicate your message more effectively.
Upon signing up, you will have been instructed to bring a short speech or piece of writing. It can be your own or someone else’s, for example your speech from the last training or one you have given before, a play or poem, or a famous speech that was delivered by an historical figure.
Important: You will need to know your first 6 to 10 lines from memory. The main purpose of the speech is to apply what you have learned in the voice session and what you have learned so far in the trainings.
After your speech, you will receive valuable and constructive feedback about how your voice and presentation were perceived and felt by the other participants. The session will end with a short summary of the techniques learned.
Take advantage of this opportunity to develop excellent voice skills in a friendly atmosphere and professional environment. Learn how to leverage the power of your voice by signing up now.
